Continue discussions into DDD & F schools language, health insurance, and budget update.

Finalize Early Dismissal language to be 5 days for 150 minutes.  One (April 7, 2013) to be used for FCAT training. All the other days are for Teacher Planning and the time is to be used by the teacher as they see fit.

Contracts Ratify for Teachers and Paras

• 95% of voting teachers agreed to ratify the tentative agreements to the teacher collective bargaining regarding the teacher evaluation process for the 2012-2013 school year.

• 97% of voting paraeducators agreed to ratify the tentative agreement regarding Appendix C – Paraeducator Pay Grades to the paraeducator collective bargaining agreement for the 2013-2014 school year.

Ratification for the Teacher Evaluation System & Article 15 of the Teacher Collective Bargaining Agreement and the Paraeducator Appendix C listings new job titles.

Ballots to go out May 24th.  Please return the ballots by 5 pm on Tuesday, June 5. 2013.  Ballots will be counted that evening and the results posted here.

The meeting was devoted to reviewing post PEA and the District's last proposals for the D & F schools.  A facilitator captured the areas of agreement and disagreement. The District then needed to do more research into learning gains and funding sources.

January 17, 2013

Discussion of Teacher Article 14.8 for teachers that are required to hold multiple certifications. With additions and corrections the proposal was tentatively agreed to and will go into effect upon ratification. Remaining issues were summarized and PEA requested that we use Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services staff, Sue Putman, to facilitate a single issue – language to address D/F school needs.

Language was tentatively agreed to for ESP Classificiations as well as new language for taking care of outliers in the Para and ESP/Secretary contracts. Additional issues discussed; Early Release, Sick Leave Transfer, and Continuing Employment for positions in the teacher CBA that do not require DOE certification.


November 5, 2012

The teams met to exchange proposals on several items.  The use of sick leave by a non-family member, early release, outlier clarification for paras and secretaries, changing ESP position titles, continuing employment status for positions in the Teacher CBA that are not required to hold DOE certification.


October 22, 2012

Ballots were counted Monday, October 22, 2012, 5:00 pm at the PEA Office and all three employee groups voted in favor of ratifying the tentative agreements for 2012-2013. 

  • 3121 Teacher ballots were counted, 3053 Yes, 66 No,  with 97.9% voting to ratify

  • 841 Paraeducator ballots were counted, 833 Yes, 8 No, with 99.0% voting to ratify

  • 429 Secretary (ESP) ballots were counted, 423 Yes, 6 No, with 98.6% voting to ratify

Bargaining has come to a tentative agreement on salaries for Teachers, Paraeducators, and ESP/Secretaries.  Read the full press release for more information.


August 22, 2012  

Teacher evaluation for the non-classroom teachers and other identified groups, social workers, school psychologists, guidance counselors, and Library/Media specialists.  Review the evaluation rubrics for each of the 5 groups.

Language for LPN's addressing 8 hour work day. Update language on military experience to reflect US military experience.
